featuring Ana María Martínez with The Czech Philharmonic Conducted by Eugene Kohn
UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, the legendary Plácido Domingo has graced the world of opera for more than three decades, appearing in more roles than any other singer in history. Having performed in every major opera house in the world, his catalogue of recordings is also unrivalled.
Conducted by long-time collaborator Eugene Kohn, Domingo is joined by Ana María Martínez, returning to the Festival after her acclaimed performance in the 2010 Puccini Festival Opera production, ‘La Bohème’.
For over a century, the Czech Philharmonic has represented the pinnacle of Czech cultural achievement. In 1896, Dvořák conducted its debut; and in 1908, Mahler led the orchestra in the world premiere of his Symphony No.7. Today, the Czech Philharmonic performs far and wide including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie in Berlin, and London’s Royal Festival Hall. Festival appearances include the BBC Proms, Berliner Festspiele, Lucerne Festival and Salzburger Festspiele.
With Spain as its Country of Honour, Abu Dhabi Festival 2013 welcomes the remarkable artist Plácido Domingo to the UAE capital as the centrepiece of its 10th anniversary celebrations.
