El Liceo de Barcelona al Palau

The Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, with its owner Josep Pons, a new cycle begins in Barcelona Symphony in partnership with another institution centennial of our country, emblem of symphonic and choral music, the Palau de la Música Catalana.

This first season, is structured around the cycle of Brahms symphonies with the participation of top international soloists and composers Catalans.

In this cycle 2012-13 season will include four concerts of the Symphony Orchestra (three of which will be directed by the teacher Pons) that have as main composer Johannes Brahms. Each will include a piece of a Catalan composer.

The first concert will take place this coming Thursday January 10, 2013 in which Frank Peter Zimmermann, violin concerto soloist «to the memory of an angel» by Alban Berg, has had to cancel their participation by a sudden illness, why which has modified the program for this concert.

The soprano Anne Schwanewilms construed Four Last Songs of Richard Strauss and kept the works of Robert Gerhard and Johannes Brahms.
