A happy New Year to all our readers!
2013 is of course a big year in the world of opera as we celebrate the bicentenary of the births of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, and the centenary of the birth of Benjamin Britten. The celebrations have already begun and there will be much to look forward to throughout the year. And of course they will all be covered here on The Opera Critic!
And 2013 has brought world premieres! Notably Philip Glass’s new opera The Perfect American in Madrid and Douglas Cuomo’s Doubtin Minnesota. We applaud their endeavours!
